GETTING THE GIST

These are the words I underlined from      the magazine I looked up spirit and        destiny magazine online. 
I decided to look this one up after looking at Tara McPhersons work as it reminded of similar ideas I have and interest's. I love to read a lot on different spiritual paths and healing. I then used these words as they are all the words that connect to spirituality and which this topic is about. 


I took some of the words from the magazine that I underlined and imagined them around a tree coming from each twig, I thought of all the words and created a tree, like a tree of life and the words are all about your inner spirit.  i don't have my illustration set up Just yet on my pc as I'm still waiting to her back from dsa about my funding towards my new computer. So my work is basically just done on paper with paint and using my photo editor at present.  for my next  assignment I will be using it. On the downside  I just feel that my work has not been as good as it could be.





Last thoughts on this are! I feel my writing is not up to scratch this is the first course in art I have ever done. Apart from a few art classes on a evening. I have found it quite hard as I'm so out of date with how it should look how a learning log should be, practicing reading again after such a long time being away from education the mind gets rusty. So I definitely need to improve my writing skills as I found it hard to put the words together as I went along, I also need a more up to date technology to do my illustrations. My timing has not be planned properly due to my illness. But looking at what I have done has helped me to see what I need to do next and what I am going to be prepared for. As this whole thing is brand new to me and never done this before. I've never studied at uni so it was all very overwhelming and a surprise to me of how hard I found this first assignment.

The history of illustration For my first exercise I decided to choose EH Shepard. I loved wind in the willows when I was growing up and winny the poo. He was a illustrator from England London he was born on December the 1st 1879. His creativity came from both parents his mother used watercolours in her drawings. He attended St Paul's school where his uncle was the headmaster. The teachers already knew that he was good at art and he won a scholarship and continued his subjects in art. Earnest was a likable person and was nicknamed giddy kipper.  WHY DID HIS WORK SEEM OLD-FASHIONED His work seem very old fashioned as the scenery was set in what would of been the 1930's era. It seemed very olde worldy set in a quaint English countryside. The character's where dressed in the style of clothing that would of been the style of clothing suited for the 1930's.
